About Formentera from Ibiza: the back story

Formentera is the small island south of Ibiza, 30 minutes away by Baleària’s ferry, with departures every 45 minutes (balearia.com); Trasmapi and Aquabus also sail. Its north lies inside the Ses Salines natural park, shared with Ibiza.

Ses Illetes

The long sand spit of Ses Illetes runs north towards Espalmador.

Espalmador

Espalmador is a protected islet in the natural park. Bathing in the mud of its lagoon is prohibited (caib.es); moor on the Ports IB buoy field, never on the Posidonia.

Bathing in or using the mud of Espalmador’s lagoon is prohibited (Ses Salines natural park).

Barbaria

The lighthouse at Cap de Barbaria stands on the cliffs of the southern tip.

Our advice: hire a bicycle at La Savina and leave the car in Ibiza.
