About Museu d'Art Contemporani d'Eivissa (MACE)
MACE opened in 1969, encouraged by the Ibiza Biennial first held in 1964, which makes it one of the oldest museums of contemporary art in Spain. It occupies Simón Poulet’s building of 1727 on the Baluard de Sant Joan; after a major renovation it reopened in 2012 with a glass building in the old gardens, whose works revealed Punic houses of the fourth century BC, now shown under a glass floor (turismo.eivissa.es).
